Features

Everything Fibonacci Notes does today.

Section by section, with what is iPad-only marked as such. What is not built yet is at the bottom, under On the roadmap.

Where it runs

Notebooks and paper

Start a notebook or a quick note, pick the paper, and write. Your library shows each notebook with a cover made from its own pages.

Four paper styles
Blank, lined, grid and dotted pages, chosen per notebook.
Covers with thumbnails
Every notebook in the library shows a preview of its pages, so you find it by sight.
Folders, tags and a trash
A side panel with all your notebooks, nested folders and tags; move, tag or trash a notebook with a long press, and restore it from the trash.
Infinite pages
Add an infinite page and it grows as you write near its bottom, for mind maps, long derivations and brainstorms.
Page overview
All pages as thumbnails: jump to one, add, duplicate, move earlier or later, delete, or export a single page.
Reading and writing modes
Reading mode scrolls and reads without drawing by accident; writing mode brings the full toolbar.

Pens and tools

On iPad, Fibonacci Notes uses Apple’s PencilKit, so Apple Pencil writes with the latency and palm rejection you expect. In the browser, a pen, highlighter and eraser work with a mouse, trackpad, touch screen or stylus.

iPad: the PencilKit tools
Pen, pencil, fountain pen, monoline, watercolour and crayon, in any colour and size, with pressure.
iPad: ruler and erasers
A ruler for straight lines, and a stroke or pixel eraser in several sizes, or one that erases only highlighter.
Web: a ruler too
Lay a ruler on the page, turn it with two fingers or its handle, and draw straight along it.
Select, everywhere
Draw a loop round ink, text, pictures and tape, then move it, resize it in proportion, duplicate it, recolour it or delete it.
Web: pen, calligraphy, highlighter, eraser
A pen and a calligraphy pen with a flat 45° nib, in six colours and three widths, a highlighter that sits behind your writing, and an eraser that removes whole strokes, or only highlighter.
Steadier lines
Pen stabilisation smooths shaky strokes: off, some or strong, on every platform.
Straight highlights
Hold at the end of a highlight and it becomes a straight line, exactly level when you were nearly level.
Shapes that snap
Draw a line, triangle, rectangle or ellipse and hold at the end: it snaps into a clean shape. Or turn on Shapes and every stroke snaps; on grid and dotted paper, onto the grid.

PDFs and files you write on

Import a PDF and each of its pages becomes a page in your notebook, ready to annotate. Digital planners keep working: the PDF’s own links still jump where they should in reading mode.

Planners, worksheets, slides
Any PDF becomes a notebook you can write, highlight and add to.
Office files and pictures
Word, PowerPoint, Excel and OpenDocument files become pages too, and so do pictures and photos, a page each; import several at once.
Links that work
Tabs and links inside a digital planner work in reading mode, so you can move around it as designed.
Searchable text
The PDF’s text is searchable along with the rest of your notes.
Export with your notes
Export the notebook and the PDF pages come out as they were, with your writing on top.

Text, photos, stickers and tape

Mix handwriting with everything else a page needs, and make it yours.

Text boxes
Type where you want on the page, in any font on your device, any size and colour, bold or italic, aligned and spaced as you like; move, resize and edit the box later.
Photos
Add photos from your library, or straight from the camera on iPad; move and resize them on the page.
Stickers
A built-in set of pink stickers, and your own PNG or SVG stickers with their transparency kept.
Washi tape
Four patterns in five colours, with torn ends, to decorate and divide your pages; or make tape from any picture.
Study tape
Cover an answer with study tape; in reading mode, tap the tape to reveal what is underneath. Active recall, built into your notes.
  • Washi tape: four patterns, five colours, torn ends.
  • Study tape: tap in reading mode to reveal the answer.
  • Stickers: a built-in pink set, or import your own PNGs.
  • Text boxes you can type, move, resize and edit.

Tabs and split view

Work the way you would at a desk: several notebooks open at once, and two of them side by side when you need both.

Tabs
Each notebook you open gets a tab, and your tabs are still there the next time you open the app.
Split view
Two notebooks side by side on a wide screen, each with its own tools. Copy from the textbook, write in your notes.
Scroll your way
Pages scroll vertically, or horizontally page by page.
Zoom
Pinch to zoom (the page re-renders sharp) or use the zoom buttons; pan sideways when zoomed in.

Audio synced to your notes

Record while you write. On playback, what you wrote later is faded and fills in at the moment you wrote it, so you hear what was said when you wrote each line.

Record into a notebook
Start a recording and keep writing; it carries on as you switch tabs, and on iPad with the screen off.
Notes that replay
During playback, ink written later is faded and comes back as the recording reaches it.
Tap to hear that moment
Tap a stroke to jump the recording to when you wrote it.
Playback controls
Skip 15 seconds either way, play at 0.75× to 2× speed, and rename your recordings.
Follow along
With Follow on, playback turns to the page you were writing on at that moment.

Handwriting to text, and maths

Select what you wrote and choose what it should become. Handwriting turns into a text box; a formula is typeset on the page, with its LaTeX to copy.

Handwriting to text
Loop round your writing and choose To text: it becomes a text box you can edit. On iPad it is read on the device; in the web app our AI reads it, using one AI credit.
Maths to LaTeX
Loop round a formula and choose Maths: check the LaTeX with a live preview, and the formula is typeset on the page, where you can move, scale and edit it. One AI credit.
Type a formula
Or write the LaTeX yourself from Text mode and place the typeset formula anywhere on the page.
AI credits
Every account gets 20 AI credits a month; a credit is given back if a conversion fails.

Sync and export

Everything you write is saved to your Fibonacci account and synced to every device you sign in on. When you want a file, export it.

Saved as you write
Every stroke, text box and picture is saved to your account; there is no save button.
Synced, without conflicts
Pages sync change by change, so writing on two devices merges instead of overwriting.
Live on your other devices
What you write shows up on your other open devices within about a second.
Vector PDF export
Export a notebook or a single page as a PDF: handwriting stays sharp vector ink, typed text stays real text, in Arabic, Hebrew, Cyrillic or Greek too.
Pictures of your pages
Export a page as a PNG picture, or a notebook as a zip of pictures, ready for slides or a message.
Your notebook, whole
Export a notebook as a Fibonacci Notes file, with every page, picture, PDF and recording still editable, and import it back to keep a backup or move it to another account.
Read-only links
Share a link to a notebook that anyone can read without an account; turn it off and the link stops working.
One sign-in
Your Fibonacci account, the same sign-in as the other Fibonacci products.
  • Synced to your account Every device you sign in on.
  • Two devices, one page Changes merge instead of overwriting.
  • Export as PDF A notebook or one page, as vector ink.
  • One Fibonacci account The same sign-in as our other products.
